Author Guidelines

Author guidelines for articles and reviews written in English (PDF)

Author guidelines for articles and reviews written in Danish/Norwegian/Swedish (PDF)

Short version of guidelines:

  • Article length should be 6000-8000 words including title and endnotes, but excluding 150 word abstract and references.

  • Language: English, Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish.

  • The article should be submitted as a Microsoft Word or RTF-formatted file, font size 12. Do not perform any formatting other than italics (rather than underlining) and bullet style lists; only section headings, no sub-section headings.
  • Notes should be indicated by superscript numbers and presented as end notes.
  • Diagrams and other graphics should be submitted as separate files.
  • Please make sure you have the right to publish illustrations, if any.
  • In order to ensure the double blind review process, be sure to remove any author information from your file before submission.

Book reviewer guidelines (short version):

  • Length of review: 800-1000 words, double reviews max. 1500
  • Language: If reviewed work is in a Nordic language (Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish), the review must be in a Nordic language (of your choice). All other reviewed works (typically in English) must be reviewed in English.
  • Title = title of the work reviewed, as follows: Author: Title of publication. Place of publication: Publisher. Year of publication. E.g.: Simon Egenfeldt-Nielsen, Jonas Heide Smith & Susana Pajares Tosca: Understanding Video Games. New York: Routledge. 2008.
